O.K. who are you and what have you done with Gordon Brown?

That is the question I found myself asking after reading this article in yahoo news.

New voting system?

I'm all ears...

A written constitution? Like in America?

I smell blood...

Of course, its possible that we will never get a new voting system or a written constitution. Its also very likely that the first "new constitution" will be awful.

However, the very fact that a governing political party is talking about constitutional change shows that our political class is desperate to restore some credibility and justify their existence.

What worries them is not so much that we'll vote for the wrong party, but that we won't vote at all, won't join political parties, won't contribute to their campaigns but instead will act on the popular sentiment that "it doesn't matter who you vote for cos they're all the same".

Monarchs don't pretend to have a popular mandate. They own everything in the kingdom. They are the master. You are the serf. There are no illusions.

Democratic politicians have to pretend that they work for you. Not for themselves, the banking cartel, the military industrial complex or any other special interest.

That pretence is wearing pretty thin.

Two Campaigns, One Target

So what did you think of the budget? If you're anything like me (or at least halfway rational) you won't have been impressed at all. Old Holborn has come up with quite a witty response, which has now been picked up as an official Libertarian Party campaign. Since Gordon the Klepto has had just about everything else off you, send him the shirt off your back. The chances are you'll have some scruffy old shirt in the back of the closet that you haven't used for years, so "donations" can be sent to Gordon Brown, 10 Downing Street, London SW1A 2AA.

There's also another campaign on the internet which looks set to be big. Sign a petition to Gordon Brown to resign. Tens of thousands of people have already signed - let's see if we can make it a million.

This guy's wasted in the European Parliament

This being a Libertarian Party blog, I wouldn't normally use it to give a free plug to a member of one of the establishment parties that we're trying to bring down, but just now and again individual politicians give me a pleasant surprise. Here's a video of Daniel Hannan MEP letting Gordon the Klepto know exactly what he thinks of him:

Really, instead of being tucked away out of sight in the European Parliament, Mr Hannan should be on the Tory front benches, making Gordon's life a daily misery. That one speech knocks spots off the sum total of everything that David Cameron has ever said in public.
