For Life, Liberty and Prosperity

For too long in the UK, we have been faced with a false choice between the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democratic parties. The differences between these parties are mostly cosmetic - they all share a common belief that they can run your life - and spend your hard-earned money - better than you can.

The UK Libertarian Party recognises that the freer individuals are from the State, the stronger they will be, and the stronger we will be as a whole. Freedom under the rule of law - both personal and economic freedom - is the first necessity for a healthy society. We won't tax you beyond your ability to pay and then ban you from doing the things you enjoy doing. It's your life and you should be free to live it however you choose, just as long as you also recognise the right of others to live their lives as they choose.

"The only part of the conduct of any one, for which he is amenable to society, is that which concerns others. In the part which merely concerns himself, his independence is, of right, absolute. Over himself, over his own body and mind, the individual is sovereign." John Stuart Mill

This is the alternative answer we need to the prevailing ideology of statism and authoritarianism - a rebirth of the classical liberal ideals that made our country one of the most successful nations on Earth.

This blog is run by members of the Libertarian Party living in the counties of Cheshire, Cumbria, Flintshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside. Views expressed are those of the contributors, and not necessarily the party as a whole. Official party positions can be found at the
Libertarian Party website.
